Geoff has spent the last ten years working in trees; he has spent his entire life in admiration of them. From the time that he was 3 and climbed the home roof to waive at the neighbors, he was destined for a life at height. He conquered fears and built passions as a young Boy Scout and eventually went to work with the local council at Camp Ottari, where he and Jeff Inman first built a solid working relationship. The lessons he learned in scouting have never left him and he continues work against the clock while helping others. If he finds a free day from running Manning Arboriculture, contributing to civic needs, or competing in tree climbing competitions, you won't find him searching a remote blue streak with his dog Pappy Van Winkle in search of native Brook Trout.
Austin has an insatiable thirst for new challenges. After graduating West Virginia University with a degree in Forestry, this Roanoke native sought local opportunities in Urban Tree Care. He knew the career he wanted and went at it in overdrive. While Manning Arboriculture was not in need of a green employee, Austin's drive and professionalism stood out as an unmistakable asset to any employer. He has seen the highs and lows of a small business and has taken every challenge head on. In 2018 he won the Pen-Del Tree Climbing Championships apprentice class by a landslide, in his first competition with less than 2 years experience. He spends his days off practicing new techniques and learning about trees in their natural environment. If you are lucky enough to catch Austin without trees on his mind, you're probably chasing him down a flooded creek in a kayak and he is going to be the best prepared to rescue you when you can't keep up.
Jeff's extensive career has inspired thousands within the industry. Always exploring, pushing, and inventing he has contributed much to the world of the climbing arborist. He is a sponsored athlete of ISC Wales and runner up of the 2018 International Tree Climbing Championship as the USA top ranked tree climber. He has helped companies build policies to advance techniques for tree climbers that help them become valuable, efficient, and sustainable industrial athletes. His leadership and drive goes back to his scouting days where he managed a rock climbing camp and outpost for the Blue Ridge Mountains Council of the Boy Scouts of America. His career has moved him around the country but he could not stray far from the Blue Ridge Mountains. He works hard and often but is always called to natural rock climbing routes; this is where his wife Kelsey, son Cedar, and his own soulful spirit find peace.
"Elise is the most beautiful creature that god ever created... she is extremely grounded and the string that lets my kite fly." just one of the many affectionate things that Geoff has to say about her... Elise earned a Doctor of Physical Therapy from Radford University. She works full time as the Manager of Therapy Services for Lewis Gale Medical Center. She literally keeps these guys put together and working full strength for their clients... She helps to prevent overuse and musculoskeletal injuries for our employees and serves as the Safety Committee Health and Wellness Officer... "I've never seen her not working." Geoff says "But sometimes she's only working in her head, that's when she's cuddled up with any of our three dogs."
